Application du PPB à la clozapine en avril 2008

1^er février 2008 Le ministre de la Santé et des Services sociaux a accepté la recommandation du Conseil d’appliquer la méthode du prix le plus bas (PPB) à la clozapine à compter d’avril 2008. Une mesure spéciale sera mise en place pour prévenir, chez les patients qui recevaient déjà l'innovateur, un éventuel préjudice lié à l’application de la méthode du PPB à la clozapine. 1^er février 2008 Une nouvelle édition de la Liste de médicaments a été publiée en date du 1^erfévrier. Le tableau des principales décisions présente notamment les ajouts apportés à la Liste alors que les Capsules CdM les expliquent. Cette nouvelle édition de la Liste de médicaments est accessible sur le site Web de la Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec.

Publication des demandes d'inscription reçues pour la Liste de juin 2008

11 janvier 2008 Le Conseil du médicament rend public les médicaments pour lesquels une demande d’inscription à la Liste de juin 2008 a été déposée. Ces produits sont présentés dans notre page Médicaments à l'étude. Les groupes ou associations de professionnels de la santé ou de patients peuvent faire parvenir leurs commentaires sur l'un de ces produits d’ici le 4 février prochain.

Modification aux listes de médicaments

19 décembre 2007 Le ministre de la Santé et des Services sociaux apporte une modification à la Liste des médicaments couverts par le Régime général d’assurance médicaments et à la Liste de médicaments—établissements.

La modification, qui entre en vigueur le 19 décembre 2007, vise notamment l’ajout d'une nouvelle indication de paiement et d'un nouveau critère d'utilisation à Sprycel^MC (dasatinib). Pour plus d’information, vous pouvez consulter la Capsule publiée à ce sujet. La modification vise aussi l'inscription de produits génériques de lisinopril pour un motif économique. Ces produits ont fait l’objet d’une évaluation prioritaire de la part du Conseil.

Diamond is an allotrope of carbon. It is the hardest known natural material and the third-hardest known material after aggregated diamond nanorods and ultrahard fullerite. Its hardness and high dispersion of light make it useful for industrial applications and jewelry.

Diamonds are specifically renowned as a material with superlative physical qualities; they make excellent abrasives because they can be scratched only by other diamonds, Borazon, ultrahard fullerite, or aggregated diamond nanorods, which also means they hold a polish extremely well and retain their lustre. Approximately 130 million carats (26,000 kg) are mined annually, with a total value of nearly USD $9 billion, and about 100,000 kg (220,000 lb) are synthesized annually.^[2]

The name diamond derives from the ancient Greek adamas (αδάμας; “invincible”). They have been treasured as gemstones since their use as religious icons in ancient India and usage in engraving tools also dates to early human history.^[3]^[4] Popularity of diamonds has risen since the 19th century because of increased supply, improved cutting and polishing techniques, growth in the world economy, and innovative and successful advertising campaigns. They are commonly judged by the “four Cs”: carat, clarity, color, and cut.

Roughly 49% of diamonds originate from central and southern Africa, although significant sources of the mineral have been discovered in Canada, India, Russia, Brazil, and Australia. They are mined from kimberlite and lamproite volcanic pipes, which brought to the surface the diamond crystals from deep in the Earth where the high pressure and temperature enables the formation of the crystals. The mining and distribution of natural diamonds are subjects of frequent controversy such as with concerns over the sale of conflict diamonds (aka blood diamonds) by African paramilitary groups.
